As a new thing this Christmas I have bought the advent calender from Three Scoops Design. I have never bought card kits or surprice kits before, so I don’t really know what to expect, but I do hope to be creatively challenged. My initial goal is to make at least three cards with each of the kits, and so far so good.
I must admit I did feel out of my comfort zone at first when I saw the content of the first kit. I rarely use pattern paper since I prefer for color my own backgrounds with inks.
My first card is pretty simple. I used one of the patterns as a background, added the letters in white paper and a little hog that got leftover as I colored the hogs the other day.
My second card only uses matierals from the kit. I tried to color the airballoons in the same colors as the paper patterns. I would have loved to have found a closer match to the pink color that was a bit more muted. I decorated the air balloons with wink of stella and glossy accents (as a attempt to hide the poor color match, but I’m not sure it worked, haha)
My third and final card only uses the stamp set from the kit. I stamped and heat embossed the air balloon and bird stamps multiple times with gold embossing powder to make my own pattern. Then I did some “ink smooshing” with Distress Ink, and finally I added the sentiment on a vellum strip on top.
